Edema Therapy
What is edema therapy?
Does your arm or leg feel heavy? Is your skin tight? Is it suddenly harder to move? This may be caused by fluid that remains in your body after surgery, radiation therapy, an injury, or sometimes for no apparent reason. What used to come naturally now requires attention.
Edema occurs when fluid accumulates in the tissues. Sometimes it goes away on its own, but it can also persist, for example, in cases of lymphedema or following medical treatment.
When will you be joining us?
Edema therapy can help when swelling occurs and does not go away on its own. This can happen, for example, after surgery, an injury, or trauma, but also after cancer treatment that puts a strain on the lymphatic system.
You can come to us for, among other things:
- lymphedema
- edema following surgery, trauma, or radiation therapy
- swelling following an injury or medical treatment
- a heavy or tight feeling in an arm or leg
- reduced range of motion due to swelling
- recurrent infections, such as erysipelas
In addition to physical symptoms, edema can also cause feelings of uncertainty. You may wonder what you can and cannot do. With the right guidance, we’ll help you regain your confidence.
How We Work
We begin with a thorough examination and a clear explanation of what’s happening in your body. Then we tailor the treatment to your symptoms and capabilities. This may include:
- manual lymphatic drainage to stimulate fluid drainage
- compression therapy, such as bandaging or therapeutic compression stockings
- Targeted exercises to support fluid drainage
- skin care and lifestyle advice
- Support and Self-Management for Chronic Edema
When edema is chronic, we’ll help you find a way to make it part of your daily life without letting it continue to control you.
We work closely with general practitioners, specialists, and hospitals in the region. This ensures that your treatment remains clear, well-coordinated, and carefully organized.
What We’re Working Toward
Edema therapy helps reduce this swelling and restore balance to your body. We look beyond the swelling itself. We investigate the cause and what it means for your daily life. We take the time to carefully assess your condition, explain what’s happening in your body, and work with you to develop a treatment plan that’s truly tailored to your needs.
